Water/cement ratios may go from 0.25 for high-strength concrete, to 0.55 for low-strength mix. Slurry = Runny or liquid cement mixture; used for thin- coating a masonry surface. Also called wash. Slushed joint = Joint filled after brick is laid. (unprofessional practice) Soldier = Brick or concrete block set on end with face oriented toward the outside. Spall = A fragment or chip that has fallen from a masonry surface by rusting of the rebar or by action of the elements.
